What I build

Four kinds of work. Each one has a line about when it is a good fit and when it is not, because the wrong project costs you more than a slow one.

Web applications

Something people log into and use to get work done: bookings, records, orders, reports, dashboards.

Good fit when the process already exists in a spreadsheet or in someone's head and it has outgrown that.

Not a fit when nobody has yet decided what the process should be. Decide that first, with or without me.

The tool that only your company needs, that no product on the market fits, and that you currently do by hand.

Good fit when the manual work is measurable: hours a week, or mistakes that cost money.

Not a fit when an existing product would do it for a subscription. I will tell you if I think one would.

Making two systems talk to each other, moving data on a schedule, removing the copy and paste step in the middle.

Good fit when both systems have a way in, an API or an export, even an awkward one.

Not a fit when the data only exists inside a system with no way out. That is a different and much larger project.

Someone built half of it and stopped. The code exists and nobody wants to touch it.

Good fit when you have the code and can get access to where it runs.

Not a fit when nobody can tell me what it is supposed to do. Understanding is the first invoice, and it is honest work, but it is not free.

One paragraph is enough. I answer within two working days, and the answer is either a quote or an honest reason why I am not the right person for it.
